What is a root canal?

A root canal is a safe and effective way to remove damaged or decayed pulp from deep inside your tooth’s root. Because the entire tooth stays intact, you don’t have to worry about your surrounding teeth shifting as you would with an extraction.
Here’s how it works. We begin by thoroughly numbing the treatment area with Novocain. For those patients who need it, we can also administer anti-anxiety or sedation medication.
We disinfect the inside of the tooth and reshape the inner root with a rubbery filling. Then, we reshape the outer part of the tooth and have a crown fabricated for you.
Many of our patients will even be able to have a custom CEREC® one-day crown made for them (read more about CEREC® crowns here).

You don’t have to live with tooth pain. Schedule an appointment to find out if you’re a candidate for modern, healing root canal therapy.
